Analysis and modernisation of your SAS infrastructure

When it comes to Business Intelligence, companies have been relying on the software of the global market leader SAS for decades. But many do not exploit their full potential or take high risks due to a lack of transparency in migration projects. Our process analysis tool Yalan creates the necessary transparency and supports the smooth migration of the SAS infrastructure.

SAS applications have been used successfully across all industries since the eighties. Technologically speaking, this is half an eternity. Anyone who has hesitated until now to modernize their infrastructure and migrate to midrange systems, for example, is missing out on valuable functions. However, migrating to new versions and architectures is difficult. In complex IT systems, the first step is to identify the supply chains in which the data is travelling. If interdependent applications are ported individually or in the wrong order, there is a risk of incorrect results. It is therefore advisable to first take a look at the inner workings of the SAS landscape. This is much better and faster than "on foot" with our tool Yalan (Yet Another Log Analyser).

Our solution: YALAN

Important for the success of a migration project is an attentive management of a large number of stakeholders with heterogeneous requirements. Experience has shown that legacy systems can only be shut down on this basis and the hoped-for efficiency, agility and scalability achieved.

Our tool Yalan offers analytical support. SAS continuously generates valuable protocols: the logs. Yalan evaluates thousands of logs and supplements the results with information from the analysis of programs and from existing data sets. This creates knowledge about processes and data structures in the form of metadata, which are stored in a log database. Now it is possible to generate reports and graphics with SAS itself or to model processes in suitable tools. The visualisations show dependencies, a sensible migration sequence and where process optimisations can be applied.

YALAN uses metadata to turn a confusing jungle of data into a walk-in garden. Our tool creates the conditions for companies to be able to modernize at all.

  • supports all log formats of the SAS system
  • learns from project to project and supports different SAS versions,
  • is largely configurable and can be quickly adapted in new environments with small variants,
  • provides information on the resource consumption of processessen.

  • Modernise your SAS infrastructure,
  • from mainframes to midrange servers,
  • identify data streams within your system,
  • optimize the migration of your software,
  • want to increase the quality of data processing,
  • want to visualize business processes easily,
  • want to be prepared for the new software generation SAS Viya,
  • and, in all this, attach importance to the principles of data governance.

He studied architecture and philosophy and learned SAS at the Heidelberg University Computer Center. He financed his studies with an IT job at a young Heidelberg IT consultancy. After a few years there he took over the responsibility for several clients in the financial sector. Then he got the offer to spin off the business unit into his own company - the starting point of Kybeidos. There is one thing he appreciates most about his work: getting direct feedback from clients at the end of the day. And to see that you actually create business value and added value.
